March is the tail of the rains. Storms thin out, the grass is at its tallest and the lodges are on their last month of green-season rates.

March gives you lush scenery and green-season prices with the worst of the rain easing. Game is still spread out, so treat it as a scenery and boating month.
Weather
Rain falls less often than in January and February on the model normals, and days stay warm. Nights begin to cool slightly toward the end of the month.
On the thirty-year model normals March averages 26.7°C by day and 19.5°C at night, with 155 mm of rain over 16 wet days.
What to expect
The lakeshore grass is long and the animals are still spread through the valley floor. Boat cruises in the drowned forest and up the Sanyati Gorge are reliable whatever the season.

31 March is the last day of Changa's green season at $440; from 1 April its mid-season $567 applies. Bumi Hills' 2027 rate for January to March is $680.
The lake
Check the Zambezi River Authority's current Lake Kariba reading before you go: on 22 September 2026 the lake stood at 481.13 m, 40.89% of usable storage, far higher than a year earlier, and the level shapes the lakeshore grassland where most of the game is. We have no sourced month-by-month lake cycle, so we do not predict one.
