If you only want the answer
April is a quiet shoulder month: rain mostly over, bush still green, mid-season rates and few visitors. A good time for scenery and birds; game is starting to return to the shore.
Weather
On the model normals rain drops sharply compared with March, and nights start to cool. The information pack still places April in the hot, wet season, which ran November to April in its figures.
On the thirty-year model normals April averages 26.6°C by day and 18.0°C at night, with 34 mm of rain over 6 wet days.
What changes
As the bush dries, animals begin to use the lakeshore grassland again. It is not yet the concentration of the dry months, but the park is green and empty.

Changa's mid season runs 1 April to 31 May at $567 per person per night international. Bumi Hills lists $850 to $910 in April and May.
The lake
Check the Zambezi River Authority's current Lake Kariba reading before you go: on 22 September 2026 the lake stood at 481.13 m, 40.89% of usable storage, far higher than a year earlier, and the level shapes the lakeshore grassland where most of the game is. We have no sourced month-by-month lake cycle, so we do not predict one.
